Brief biography of Maria Gurikhina
Maria Gurikhina (MAGber, b. 1998) is a Barcelona-based multimedia and printmaking artist whose magic realist works explore the duality of inner and outer worlds. Trained at the Ilya Repin Academy of Fine Arts, she is an award winning artist, who has exhibited internationally in venues such as FIG Bilbao, FAD Barcelona Design Museum, the Taiwan National Museum of Fine Arts and the Charles Aznavour museum in Armenia. Her works are in private and public collections worldwide. She is currently developing a 20-meter mural in the center of Barcelona.
Brief description of her personal project
Maria’s printmaking project is rooted in magic realism, exploring the duality of the inner and outer world through surrealistic forms. Focusing on lithography on stone, she creates works on centuries-old Bavarian lithographic stones, drawing directly on it with lithographic pencil and ink. This process, combined with her use of symbolic imagery, allows her to convey deep emotional and perceptual experiences on paper.
