Attending to materiality: mediation space in dialogue with the exhibition

Visits

Attending to Materiality is a mediation space created by the artist Stella Rahola Matutes and the curator Cristina Anglada, in dialogue with the exhibition La Biblioteca.

The proposal reflects on how materials expelled by the system are transformed into an archaeology of the present, and how fragility invites attention and care — understanding that materiality is not separate from ourselves and revealing the relationships established between the different bodies that participate in the installation.

Cristina Anglada is an independent art curator and cultural manager. Her field of research explores different narrative strategies to outline ways of thinking in which desire, imagination, speculative pleasure and magical thinking challenge official narratives. She is currently in charge of the Madrid 31 Visual Arts Programme of the Community of Madrid, under the title Contar es Escuchar (To Tell is to Listen), a series of lectures and workshops with artists Beatrice Gibson, Alex Reynolds, Blanca Arias, Patricia Esquivias, Violeta Gil, and Diego Delas. She co-curated Opening for ARCOmadrid in 2024 and 2025, alongside Yina Jiménez Suriel and Anissa Touati. She will continue to collaborate with Opening ARCOmadrid 2026. She is an advisor to the recently inaugurated Calparsoro Foundation. She also works as a guest lecturer for the Master’s Degree in Art Business at the CEU San Pablo University, Madrid, since 2022. She has been a member of the jury for the Catalan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2026 and for the second edition of the BKC in Rhodes, Greece.
